Exhibition(s) & speed painting with camera
in the heart of Vienna,
December 2024
Exhibition from December 10 to 14:
I had almost exactly 24 hours in Vienna to get to Galerie Frank in the city center with all my exhibition luggage, to help arrange my photographic works on wood and metal under the assigned vaulted element with a noble beamed wooden ceiling in the architecturally stylish gallery. (Many thanks for any support and to everyone who made this happen with such energy and in a relaxed atmosphere!) By the time the exhibition opened, all the works by a total of around 20 international artists were hanging perfectly in their intended places and even a small pop-up art boutique has come to exist with artistic gift items, including my Art Mugs… Many thanks to all the visitors to the gallery, too…!
Speedpainting with camera:
Managed to used a small remaining time window of about two hours until the exhibition opening to take some new photos in Vienna’s city center with Stephansplatz, crossed the Christkindlmarkt, the area around the Hofburg etc. and …
… visited the great works in the Albertina. I know, about one hour left is of course far too short for that. But firstly, I’ve already seen and heard a thing or two ; ) of artists like Chagall, Picasso, Monet, Braque, Matisse, Derain, Kirchner, Marc, Kandinsky, Macke, Nolde, Pechstein, Münch… and secondly, it was just too tempting to get up close and personal with their original brushstrokes. Despite the limited time available and a rather full house: it was definitely worth it!
How good that I had already made my first foray through the city center the eveneing before, which resulted in the picturesque night shots above (by the way, a real insider tip – with or without a camera – it’s much less busy than during the day)! And if, like me, you’re lucky enough for it to stop raining just then, you’re left with photographically perfect mirrored streets and historic squares: What more could you want?
… Mirror on the wall – how useful…
And after another short stop at the gallery with my own works, I had to get back to the train to Germany – done : ) !
